The Stop-Wasting-Handshakes Manifesto

This page is under construction......

A handshake is never just a greeting.

It is a moment of trust, opportunity, and stewardship—a moment when two lives briefly intersect.

Most people waste that moment. They collect names but never build relationships. They mistake contact for connection and activity for impact.

I believe every handshake carries responsibility.

A handshake is not the finish line; it is the starting point.

It is an opportunity to listen, learn, serve, and follow through. It is a chance to understand someone's story, needs, hopes, and challenges.

I will not treat people as leads, targets, or transactions. I will not network for appearance or collect contacts I never intend to cultivate. I will seek to build genuine relationships based on trust and value.

Relationships are built through attention, consistency, and care. Trust is formed through small acts of faithfulness:

  • A thoughtful follow-up.
  • A promise kept.
  • A referral given.
  • A prayer remembered.
  • A meaningful conversation continued.

Success is not measured by how many people I meet, but by how many people I truly see.

Not by the number of cards collected, but by the number of relationships honored.

I choose to be intentional. I choose to listen. I choose to remember. I choose to add value before asking for anything in return.

Every introduction is a seed.

Every conversation is a responsibility.

Every connection deserves care.

Some handshakes will become friendships. Some partnerships. Some clients. Some mentors.

Some will become opportunities whose significance is only understood later.

I believe people are not interruptions to our work.

In many cases, they are the work.

Therefore, I will build systems to remember people well, follow through consistently, and become someone worthy of trust.

I will stop wasting handshakes because I will stop wasting the people behind them.

Every handshake matters.

Every person matters.

And every moment of connection is an opportunity to live with greater purpose, integrity, and impact.

This is my commitment:

  • To treat every handshake as the beginning of stewardship.
  • To give every introduction the opportunity to become a relationship.
  • To turn good intentions into faithful action.
  • I will not waste handshakes.
  • I will honor them.
